Donald Milne founded Typhon Films in order to make the short film, The Ghosts of Light. Donald took on several roles in the making of this short, acting as the Director, Writer, and Editor. He drew from his past experience working on films, commercials, and music videos, in a variety of positions in Production. These positions have included 2nd Unit Director, Camera Operator, 1st Assistant Director, 2nd Assistant Camera, and Locations Assistant.
Donald's passion for film and television has enabled him to work on a variety of projects in Post Production as well. Starting in Post as an Assistant Editor for several Roger Corman films, Donald moved on to become an Online Editor on a number of Animated TV shows at Sony Animation, such as The Jackie Chan Adventures and Roughnecks: The Starship Trooper Chronicles. Working as an Editor, Donald has edited such films as Toronto Film Festival official selection Bubba Ho-Tep, and Sundance Film Festival official selection John Dies At The End, along with TV shows Rockstar:INXS, UFC: Ultimate Knockouts 5, and Street Outlaws as a Web Editor.
He studied at The University of Southern California and received a Bachelor of Arts in English, and interned at Orion Pictures for Producer Robert Baer in his senior year, and was one of the two cinematographers for the Student Academy Award Nominated Short Film, Oblivion. For his graduate studies, Donald received a Master of Science in Technology in Graphic Information Technology from Arizona State University. Hoping to combine his knowledge of editing and visual effects with Internet technology, Donald studied web development in order to provide and manage online content.
The short film The Ghosts of Light is Donald's first film as director. It was awarded the Best Science Fiction film at the 2017 Independent Filmmaker's Showcase, a prestigious film festival in Hollywood, California, which has been running for 25 years.
